Hi, I'm Ryan! I'm a student at Idaho State University currently pursuing a MS degree in Geology.

My academic background includes a BS degree in Earth and Environmental Systems (with a minor in Computer Science). This means I have had a lot of exposure to the various -ologies and natural sciences. Some of my interests are botany, ecology, geomorphology, and hydrology. These things all play a role in both my academics and my hobbies. I also have a lot of experience in programming, partially due to the minor in CS. For example, I coded every single line of this website from scratch. I've also developed software as part of both my studies and my job. Some of that is located under the "Software" tab above.

I've worked in a variety of different capacities- as a research assistant, as a sprinkler system technician, and as a landscaper, just to name the most recent. Some of the research projects I've worked on include identifying and cataloging the trees in Pocatello and writing software to analyze and interpret geological data. During the academic off season, you can find me anywhere in East Idaho repairing and installing sprinklers.

When I'm not at school or work, I like to be camping, hiking, or otherwise outdoors. I like to forage (the art of harvesting, preparing, and eating wild plants) and flintknap (the art of making and using stone tools). Recently I have gotten into digging my own clay and making pots, mugs, etc.
